Our client is a Belgian family owned company providing energy market access, portfolio management and energy balancing services to electricity suppliers, big industry and developers of renewable energy assets. Established in 2017, the company is present in Belgium, France and the Netherlands and intends to grow fast to all the European power markets.

The headquarter is located in Kortrijk. The energy market is changing rapidly. The integration of renewable energy production assets increases the volatility of the electricity markets and requires a high level of expertise, a state-of-the-art back-office platform and very qualified people who can adapt continuously to new paradigms. For that reason the company needs someone who will help them to develop and operate new products and services allowing them to grow their competitive edge.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, who is innovative and likes to bring ideas to reality. Management is there to help, to challenge and to ensure a good work environment. They give a lot of freedom but expect to collaborate with people who wants to excel in their job.

Functie

Your role is to support their short-term portfolio manager-team with energy market analysis helping them to discover patterns on which they will build their strategy to optimize the portfolio’s of their customers. You validate whether some strategies can be automated and develop algorithms in python using weather prediction models, artificial intelligence and any other data science techniques. You follow and challenge the quality of the short-term load forecasting models and always stay ahead of market development. You support the creation of new product, and develop risk model to evaluate them.


Profiel

-You are interested in the electricity market

-You have a strong analytical mind

-You are fast in analysing and summarizing a lot of information

-You never take anything for granted and always try to analyse things from different perspective

-You can work stand-alone but you appreciate to collaborate with a team

-You hold a master degree with a strong mathematical background

-You have experience in the forecasting and optimization problems

-You can program in Python and in particular NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, Keras and TensorFlow
