EOR

What is an Employer of Record?

An Employer of Record (EOR) is an organisation that acts as the legal employer of someone who works for another company. The employee signs their employment contract with the EOR, which handles payroll, the applicable statutory deductions and contributions, and employer obligations under local law. The client company manages the employee’s day-to-day work and sets their tasks and priorities.

This model allows a company to hire someone locally without having its own legal entity in that country. The agreements set out the responsibilities of the legal employer and the company the employee works for.

How does Applisquare’s Employer of Record service work?

Our own company in Kosovo, Applisquare Kosovo, acts as the Employer of Record. Your IT professional is employed locally and works from Kosovo exclusively for your business. As the legal employer, Applisquare Kosovo handles the employment contract, salary payments and ongoing employment administration.

Your new colleague becomes part of your team and works with you directly. You set their tasks, review progress and provide feedback. Applisquare provides a fully equipped workspace and local support, with monthly check-ins to review the working relationship.

How does EOR differ from recruitment and payroll?

Recruitment involves finding, assessing and selecting the right candidate. Applisquare identifies suitable IT professionals; you conduct the interviews, carry out technical assessments and make the final hiring decision.

Payroll covers salary processing and the associated administration. A payroll provider is not automatically the legal employer.

An Employer of Record takes on the role of legal employer. The EOR signs the employment contract with the employee and assumes the employer obligations under local law. Applisquare brings recruitment, payroll and local employment together in one service for your international IT professional.

Who is responsible for what?
